CLARA ROTESCU – The Person
Clara’s story is written by the devoutness to the authentic and a continuous challenge of handling the power of words in order to echo awareness, motivation and sensitivity in the minds and spirits of others.
Born in the port city of Constanta, a place that will always pride itself with the Grecian, Roman and Byzantine heritage that stands as its core, Clara would further evoke is her creative projects the cultural mosaic that influenced her dreams, curiosity and thirst for aesthetic diversity.
Her early background in Pedagogy influenced her first career steps, as an elementary school and a substitute Romanian Literature teacher at the Negru Voda High School, while attending an education in Law. Recalling these years, Clara is grateful for the experience of modeling the imagination of young minds, while receiving their vision, expectations and dreams as true wisdom.
Combining an enthusiasm for literature with the knowledge of legal issues, Clara worked as a journalist for Telegraf and TV Neptun press trust between 1994 and 1999, where she was credited as a reported to the Romanian Senate and Chamber of Deputies. She reached the peak of her career as a journalist by enrolling as a war correspondent in Kosovo and by covering on the scene the 1999 earthquake in Turkey.
She turned towards poetry as a shelter to discover, face and embrace states and emotions, as a primary bond set by creativity with an inner expression before her path in fashion. Munich-based magazine Observator named Clara Rotescu “Best Poetess of the Diaspora”, alongside Elena Bogatan. Her work was published in a Romanian-German bilingual plaquette at the Leipzig Book Fair and also, in Serbia.
Deeply experiencing reality in its cruelest sights, Clara crossed over to celebrity journalism, collaborating with a series of magazine which hosted her fashion column. She also offered PR advising to various brands but also to the Romanian Fashion Week and Bucharest Fashion Week events.
This constant encounter with fashion as an aesthetic manifesto of beliefs and ideals vibrated towards a creative spirit, such as Clara’s, who perceived this visual art as a more influential way in offering a positive, inspiring energy. She founded MIAU by Clara Rotescu, bringing behind a joyful name sensitivity, historical nostalgia and romanticism, reflected in a style that comes as a tribute to the Balkan ethnic legacy.
As vision has to be sustained by refined creative skills, Clara enrolled in the Instituto di Moda Burgo Milano, where she received an education as a stylist.
